Julius Honka is rejoining the Dallas Stars’ blue line.

The team announced Friday that it had signed its former first-round pick (14th overall in 2014) to a one-year, two-way deal after he spent the 2019-20 season playing with JYP Jyvaskyla of the Finnish Elite League. In 46 games with JYP, the defenceman notched 15 points.

Honka’s last season in North America came in 2018-19, when he recorded four points and averaged 13:57 of ice time in 29 games for the Stars. Over the course of 87 regular-season contests with the Stars, he has put up 13 points.

Honka has thrived at the AHL level, collecting 31 points in 50 games for the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate, in 2016-17 and totalling 108 points over 201 games in three seasons.
