‘Just the way we drew it up’: Maple Leafs fans react to second straight do-or-die victory

The Toronto Maple Leafs have managed to stay alive once again.

After the Maple Leafs’ 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday, the first-round series between the two teams will now move on to a decisive Game 7.

William Nylander scored both goals for Toronto, including a breakaway marker late in the third period. Joseph Woll stood tall in the Maple Leafs net to earn a second-straight victory after replacing Ilya Samsonov.

The Bruins ended Woll’s shutout with 0.1 seconds left in the third period with a buzzer-beater goal from Morgan Geekie.

The victory marked the second straight for Toronto, after being down in the series 3-1 after Game 4. Their other win, which was their first of the series, came in Game 3.

The team has now battled back for a chance to advance to the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Last season marked their first victory in Round 1 since 2004.

Here is a look at the reactions on X from both fans and media as the Maple Leafs survived another do-or-die game.
