The Los Angeles Kings and centre Adrian Kempe agreed to a four-year contract with an average annual value of $5.5 million on Sunday
Kempe, who is coming off a three-year, $6 million deal, will now avoid entering restricted free agency on July 13.
The 25-year-old from Sweden broke out with 35 goals to lead the Kings last season, and pitched in 19 assists for 54 points in 78 games.
He then followed that performance up with six points in seven playoff games in Round 1 against the Edmonton Oilers.
