‘Big Save Dave’ is staying in La La Land after a career year with the Kings.
The Los Angeles Kings have inked goaltender David Rittich to a one-year, $1 million contract, keeping him in Hollywood through the 2024-25 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Despite splitting time between Los Angeles and AHL affiliate Ontario Reign, the 31-year-old enjoyed a strong season, appearing in 24 games while putting up a career-best 2.15 GAA and .921 save percentage. He finished the regular season with a 13-6-3 record and had three shutouts.
He also got the start between the pipes in two playoff games against the Edmonton Oilers in the first round, finishing with a 2.56 GAA and 0.872 save percentage.
The Jihlava, Czechoslovakia native originally joined the Kings as a free agent last summer.
He has played eight years in the NHL, suiting up for the Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets and the Kings.
