Los Angeles Kings head coach Todd McLellan says that defenceman Sean Durzi could make his NHL debut on Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“There’s a real good chance that Sean will play,” McLellan said Tuesday. “He’s been a real good student of the game since he’s been with the organization, he’s put his time in and done real good things as far as development goes at the American League level, he’s off to a good start there. He’s had some good practices with us and there’s a good chance he’ll be in the lineup tomorrow.”
Durzi, a native of Mississauga, Ont., was acquired by the Kings as part of the deal that sent Jake Muzzin to the Maple Leafs in 2019.
The 23-year-old was drafted by Toronto in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft. In 13 games with the AHL’s Ontario Reign this season, his third pro campaign, Durzi has five goals and 16 points.
