Kraken’s Melanson to have hearing for illegal hit on Oilers’ Hamblin

Seattle Kraken forward Jacob Melanson will have a hearing with the NHL’s department of player safety regarding his illegal hit on James Hamblin of the Edmonton Oilers during Monday’s pre-season game.

The incident occurred with 2:42 remaining in the second period and the Kraken ahead 2-0.

As Hamblin was skating through the neutral zone and looking to avoid Kraken defenceman Michal Kempny, Melanson delivered a hit to the head of the Oilers forward.
