Lightning sign forward Tyler Motte to one-year, $800K contract

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Tyler Motte to a one-year, $800,000 contract, the team announced Saturday.

Motte split last season between the Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers and finished the year with eight goals and a career-high 19 points in 62 games.

The 28-year-old from St. Clair, Mich., was drafted in the fourth round, 121st overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013.

He has 43 goals and 81 points in 331 games over seven seasons with the Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, Rangers and Senators.

Tampa Bay also announced Saturday they have placed forward Josh Archibald on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
