Lightning’s Sergachev suffers apparent leg injury vs. Islanders

Watch as Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Mikhail Sergachev appears to injure his right leg after a collision along the boards and will not return to the game.

Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Mikhail Sergachev exited Saturday’s game against the New York Islanders with an apparent leg injury in the third period.

Afterward, Lightning coach Jon Cooper said there was no update on Sergachev.

The defenceman got tangled up with Jean-Gabriel Pageau while trying to keep the puck in the Islanders’ zone after a faceoff before hobbling back to the bench and then being taken to the locker-room.

The six-foot-one Sergachev has a career-best 59 points (nine goals, 50 assists) in 75 games this season.

Sergachev, who helped the Lightning win the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021, signed an eight-year, $60-million contract extension with Tampa last off-season.
