Los Angeles Kings re-sign goaltender Erik Portillo to three-year contract

The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed goaltender Erik Portillo to a three-year contract, the team announced Sunday.

The deal is worth an average annual value of $783,333.

Portillo, who has yet to play in the NHL, was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres on March 1, 2023, in exchange for a third-round draft pick.

The 22-year-old from Gothenburg, Sweden, spent last season with the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign, and posted a 24-11-3 record, 2.50 goals-against average and .918 save percentage along with two shutouts in 39 games.

Portillo was drafted in the third round, 67th overall, by the Sabres in 2019.

He played with the University of Michigan for three seasons and also earned a bronze medal with Team Sweden at the 2020 world junior championship.
