Maple Leafs defenceman Victor Mete suffers lower-body injury vs. Stars

Victor Mete is the latest Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman to suffer an injury after he left Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars with a lower-body ailment.

Mete only skated five shifts in the game before leaving with the injury. The Maple Leafs announced he would not return at the start of the second period.

Mete has two assists in 11 games this season.

Maple Leafs’ head coach Sheldon Keefe gave an update on Mete’s condition following the 4-0 win over the Stars, saying that he will “miss some time,” but the injury is not serious.

Keefe expects Mete to be sidelined for the rest of the week.

The Maple Leafs are already without regular defencemen Morgan Rielly (knee), Jake Muzzin (neck), Jordie Benn (upper-body) and T.J. Brodie (oblique) are all currently out of the lineup, although Brodie is nearing a return.
