Maple Leafs’ Giordano to miss time with upper-body injury

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Mark Giordano will miss some time after suffering an upper-body injury in Tuesday night’s game against the Florida Panthers, head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters.

Keefe also told reporters that he expected the team to be missing defencemen at practice Wednesday.

Giordano, 40, exited the game in the first period after skating 6:31. He was not on the ice to begin the second period and the team subsequently announced he would not return.

It was not immediately apparent when or how Giordano was injured.

Prior to Tuesday’s matchup, the defenceman had recorded five points (one goal and four assists) over 15 appearances this season.
