Maple Leafs recall forward Joey Anderson from Marlies

The Toronto Maple Leafs made a minor move on Tuesday, recalling forward Joey Anderson from their farm team.

Anderson has 14 goals and 27 points in 30 American Hockey League games with the Toronto Marlies this season. The 24-year-old has appeared in seven games with the Leafs this season, scoring once.

It was not immediately known what corresponding move the Leafs would make to accommodate Anderson on the roster, which already lists 13 forwards and seven defencemen. Veteran Wayne Simmonds has most often been the odd man out.

The Maple Leafs’ next game is Wednesday night in Toronto against the New York Rangers, and can be seen on Sportsnet starting at 7 p.m. ET.
