Maple Leafs’ Tavares returns vs. Blues, Rifai to make NHL debut

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have captain John Tavares back in the lineup and defenceman Marshall Rifai will make his NHL debut in Monday’s afternoon game with the St. Louis Blues.

Tavares missed the Maple Leafs’ 9-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks with a minor injury. He practised fully on Sunday. In 51 games this season, Tavares has 15 goals and 25 assists.

Rifai makes his NHL debut after signing a two-year, two-way deal with the Maple Leafs this off-season. The 25-year-old has two goals and 11 points in 34 games this season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies.

Rifai comes into the lineup for defenceman William Lagesson who was forced to leave Saturday’s game against the Ducks with an upper-body injury.

You can watch the Maple Leafs start their four-game road trip with a Monday’s game against the Blues at 1:00 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT on Sportsnet.
