Oilers claim forward Raphael Lavoie off waivers from Golden Knights

Raphael Lavoie is heading back to Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers reclaimed Lavoie off waivers Wednesday, just two days after the team had lost him to the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Oilers originally placed Lavoie on waivers as teams worked to get their cap-compliant roster submitted by 5 p.m. ET Monday.

Edmonton re-signed Lavoie to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 in July.

The 24-year-old from Chambly, Que., spent the majority of last season with the Oilers’ AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, and registered 28 goals and 50 points in 66 games.

Lavoie also made his NHL debut and suited up for seven games with Edmonton.

Meanwhile, Carolina Hurricanes forward Tyson Jost and newly signed Montreal Canadiens defenceman Gustav Lindstrom were placed on waivers.
