Oilers place forward Ryan McLeod on LTIR, recall defenceman Jason Demers

The Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Ryan McLeod on long-term injured reserve with an upper-body injury, the team announced Thursday.

In a corresponding move, the Oilers recalled defenceman Jason Demers from AHL Bakersfield.

McLeod has missed the Oilers’ past 10 games after suffering the injury March 14 against the Ottawa Senators. In 55 games for Edmonton this season, the 23-year-old centre has 11 goals and 22 points.

Demers, who was drafted back in the 2008 NHL entry by the San Jose Sharks, has not appeared in a game for the Oilers in 2022-23. He has 18 assists in 55 games in Bakersfield this season.

The Oilers are currently one point back of the Vegas Golden Knights for the Pacific Division lead with three games remaining on their schedule.
