Patrick Kane says he’ll ‘forever be proud to be a Blackhawk’ in farewell post

Patrick Kane might be with the New York Rangers now, but he says he’ll “forever be proud to be a Blackhawk and call Chicago home.”

The Rangers acquired the three-time Stanley Cup champion and Hart Trophy winner from the Chicago Blackhawks in a blockbuster deal Tuesday, just three days ahead of the NHL’s Trade Deadline.

Kane penned a heartfelt salute on social media to the franchise and the fans he has known since he was selected first overall by Chicago in 2007.

“There simply are no words to express my family’s love and appreciation for the Blackhawks organization, my teammates, this city and the greatest fans in the world welcoming me here since being drafted in 2007,” Kane wrote. “Thank you for giving me a chance and supporting me like your own through 1,297 games played in the most iconic sweater, including three Stanley Cups and thousands of memories to last a lifetime.”

Kane recorded 1,225 points (446 goals and 779 assists) in 1,161 regular season games plus 132 points (52 goals and 80 assists) in 136 playoff games.

On top of winning the Stanley Cup three times (2010, 2013 and 2015), Kane also captured the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2013. He won both the Hart and Art Ross trophies during the 2015-16 season after leading the league with 106 points.

The 34-year-old from Buffalo is in the final season of an eight-year contract with a $10.5 million AAV.

He has 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists) in 54 games in 2022-23.
