Free agent defenceman Will Butcher has signed a one-year, two-year deal worth $775,000 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the team announced Monday.
The left-handed shot played last season with the AHL’s Texas Stars, putting up 43 points in 65 games.
Butcher had a break-out rookie season with the New Jersey Devils in 2017-2018, leading rookie defencemen in scoring with 44 points en route to earning All-Rookie honours, but the Wisconsin native has played fewer games and scored fewer points in each successive season.
Butcher has tallied 16 goals and 98 assists for 114 points across 275 NHL games.
