Pittsburgh Penguins re-sign D Ryan Shea to one-year contract

The Pittsburgh Penguins are bringing back defenceman Ryan Shea on a one-year contract worth $775,000 at the NHL level, the team announced Monday.

Shea, 27, bounced between Pittsburgh and their AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He picked up one goal with 31 appearances with Pittsburgh and two goals and four assists in 23 games in the AHL.

The Milton, Mass., native was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, going 121st overall.

The six-foot-two defenceman has appeared in 186 career AHL games between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate.
