Predators goaltender Yaroslav Askarov to make NHL debut against Canadiens

The Nashville Predators will turn to rookie goaltender Yaroslav Askarov against the Montreal Canadiens for his NHL debut.

Selected 11th overall by the Predators in the 2020 NHL Draft, Askarov became the highest-drafted Russian goaltender in NHL history.

Nashville recalled the 20-year-old with backup goaltender Kevin Lankinen sidelined with an illness.

Askarov has appeared in 22 games for the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals going 13-6-4 with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.
