The Nashville Predators have signed forward Cole Smith to a two-year, $2 million contract extension that will begin in the 2024-25 season, the club announced Wednesday.
Smith, 28, is in his second full season with the Predators, but has been with the organization for four seasons. Currently on a one-year deal worth $775,000, Smith has 16 points (five goals and 11 assists) in 46 games this season. His 118 hits this season rank second on the Predators and 12th in the NHL.
Over 124 career games with the Predators, Smith has nine goals and 24 assists for a total of 33 points.
Hailing from Brainerd, Minn., Smith joined the franchise as an undrafted free agent in 2020 after spending four seasons with the University of North Dakota. He was due to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
