Red Wings acquire Jasper Weatherby from Sharks for Kyle Criscuolo

The Detroit Red Wings traded centre Kyle Criscuolo to the San Jose Sharks for centre Jasper Weatherby on Wednesday.

Both players have spent this season with their clubs’ farm teams in the American Hockey League.

Weatherby had three goals and three assists in 39 games with the San Jose Barracuda. The 24-year-old from Portland, Ore., was drafted in the fourth round, 102nd overall, in 2018. He played 50 games with the Sharks during the 2021-22 season registering five goals and six assists.

Criscuolo had five goals and five assists in 28 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The undrafted 30-year-old from Southampton, N.J., made his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres during the 2017-18 season and appeared in nine games. He had two assists in six games with the Red Wings last season.
