Red Wings’ Ben Chiarot, Lucas Raymond scuffle at practice

Things are not going well for the Detroit Red Wings.

Fresh off a 7-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday — their sixth in a row — frustrations seemed to carry over into Wednesday’s practice, as defenceman Ben Chiarot and Lucas Raymond got into an altercation and had to be separated by teammates.

In a video taken by WXYZ Detroit’s Jeanna Trotman, the two appeared to get tangled up in front of the net, with teammates quickly jumping in to break things up.

After a very good month of January skyrocketed the Red Wings into playoff position, the recent skid has Detroit now tied for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with the surging New York Islanders.

The Red Wings are hoping to make their first post-season appearance since the 2015-16 season when they were ousted in Round 1.

Their next chance to get things back on track comes Thursday when they host the Arizona Coyotes.
