Red Wings sign Calder Cup champ Joe Snively to one-year, two-way deal

The Detroit Red Wings have signed the back-to-back Calder Cup champ Joe Snively to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced on Monday. The annual cap hit comes in at $775,000 for the 2024-2025 season.

The 28-year-old forward is fresh off another successful AHL playoff run with the Hershey Bears, the Washington Capitals’ minor league affiliate. Snively tallied 18 points in 20 playoff games to help earn his team’s second Calder Cup victory in as many seasons. That prior postseason, he posted 15 points in 20 games.

Throughout the 2023-2024 regular season, Snively recorded 14 goals with 45 assists for 59 points in 69 games. He tallied 27 points in 32 games in 2022-2023.

Snively had suited up for Yale in the NCAA for four seasons and was a Hobey Baker Award nominee in his senior year, leading to his signing by Washington in 2019. During his collegiate tenure, he led his team in points every year he was with the program, recording 139 points in total — 58 goals and 81 assists in 129 career games.
