Report: Blue Jackets’ Boone Jenner expected to be out long-term

The news isn’t good for Boone Jenner.

The Columbus Blue Jackets captain is expected to be out long-term after suffering an upper-body injury in practice on Friday, Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch reported Monday.

Coach Dean Evason told reporters that Jenner addressed his teammates at practice on Monday.

The Blue Jackets signed veteran forward Kevin Labanc this past weekend in the aftermath of injuries to Jenner and Dmitry Voronkov.

Jenner has dealt with injuries each of the last three years, missing at least 10 games each season.

The 31-year-old native of Dorchester, Ont., had 22 goals and 13 assists in 58 games last season.
