Sabres’ JJ Peterka out for home opener vs. Kings

The Buffalo Sabres won’t have one of their top goal-scorers from last season in the lineup for their home opener.

JJ Peterka, who was second on the team with 28 goals last season, is not ready to return from a concussion and will miss Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings, the team announced.

Peterka was hurt in the second and final game in Prague last weekend when the Sabres were swept by the New Jersey Devils in the NHL’s Global Series.

The Sabres also announced fellow forward Zach Benson will be a game-time decision after he suffered a lower-body injury last weekend.

Forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel is out 3-6 weeks with a lower-body injury.
