The Buffalo Sabres will be missing centre Casey Mittelstadt (upper body injury) and defencemen Henri Jokiharju (lower body injury) for at least a couple of weeks after both players were hurt in Thursday’s season-opening 5-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
Mittelstadt left the game after the second period.
Picked eighth overall by the Sabres in the 2017 NHL Draft, Mittelstadt had 10 goals and 12 assists in 41 games last year.
Jokiharju, a first-round pick (29th overall) by Chicago in 2017, was acquired by Buffalo in a trade with the Blackhawks in July 2019 for Alexander Nylander. He had three goals and five assists in 46 games last year.
