Sabres’ Nicolas Aube-Kubel expected to be out 3-6 weeks

The Buffalo Sabres‘ new-look fourth line didn’t even last one game.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel, signed by Buffalo in the off-season, is expected to miss three to six weeks after he suffered a lower-body injury in the season opener last week against the New Jersey Devils in Prague, coach Lindy Ruff told reporters on Tuesday.

Per Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News, Ruff said he is hopeful forwards JJ Peterka (concussion) and Zach Benson (lower-body) defenceman Brenden Dillon will be available for Thursday’s home opener against the Los Angeles Kings. Both of those players also were hurt in Prague, where the Sabres lost a pair of games against the Devils.

Aube-Kubel, a former Toronto Maple Leaf, had six goals and 10 assists in 60 games for the Washington Capitals last season. He was skating alongside fellow newcomers Sam Lafferty and Beck Malenstyn in the season opener.
