Sabres’ Tage Thompson ruled out with upper-body injury vs. Bruins

After leaving Tuesday night’s game in the first period, Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson returned to the game just to take a shot off the hand and leave again.

Thompson was ruled out by the team shortly after with an upper-body injury.

He originally left the game after getting tangled up with defenceman Charlie McAvoy and was questionable to return with a lower-body injury.

Coming off a 47-goal season, Thompson had six goals and 12 points in 15 games to open the 2023-24 campaign. He sits second among all Sabres in goals and points and has played over 19 minutes per game for Buffalo.

The Sabres currently sit with a 7-7-1 record, so if Thompson were to miss any time, it would be a significant blow to the team’s post-season hopes.

Buffalo doesn’t play again until Friday, when they start up a three-game road trip by visiting the Winnipeg Jets.
