Seattle Kraken ink an entry-level deal with No. 8 pick, Berkly Catton

The Seattle Kraken have signed their 2024 first-round draft pick, forward Berkly Catton to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Friday.

The deal will carry an annual cap hit of $975,000 through the 2026-27 season.

“We are excited to have Berkly signed to his first professional contract,” said Seattle Kraken general manager Ron Francis in a team release. “He brings elite hockey sense, an ability to score and a high compete level. He has had an impressive three seasons in the WHL, and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop.”

The five-foot-11, Saskatoon native had a breakout year with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs during the 2023-24 season. There, he tallied 54 goals and 62 assists for 116 points throughout 68 games — which more than doubled his total a year prior with 55 points in five fewer games.
