Seattle Kraken ink one-year deal with forward Ben Meyers

The Seattle Kraken have signed a one-year, one-way contract with 25-year-old forward Ben Meyers, the club announced on Monday. The deal will see the Kraken carry a cap hit of $775,000 for the 2024-2025 season.

The Delano, Minn. native spent the majority of the 2023-2024 season with the Colorado Eagles, the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. There, he tallied 11 goals, 14 assists for 25 points across 35 games, while also suiting up for nine NHL contests where he netted one goal. He was then traded to the Anaheim Ducks at the deadline in March, where he went on to suit up for 14 games with the California club, recording two assists.

Since joining the league near the tail end of the 2021-2022 campaign, Meyers went on to spend his first few seasons within the Avalanche organization. He’s posted 17 goals and 32 assists for 49 points across 62 AHL games, while scoring six goals through 53 games with the Avalanche.

Colorado signed Meyers out of the NCAA after he hit collegiate career highs in his third season with the University of Minnesota, a year that saw him post 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points through 34 games.
