The Ottawa Senators are throwing their hat into the professional golf scene.
On Wednesday, the team announced that they had committed to a multi-year partnership with Canadian professional golfer Brooke Henderson.
As part of the agreement, according to the team, Henderson’s water bottles and towels on the LPGA tour will feature the Senators logo and Henderson’s sister will wear the team colours as she caddies.
“Brooke’s spirit, values and determination embody what our Ottawa-Gatineau community is all about,” owner Michael Andlauer said in the team’s statement.
Henderson, who grew up in the Ontario town of Smiths Falls, says she is excited to represent the team she watched in her childhood.
“Growing up, I played hockey, I watched hockey and I always cheered for the Sens, so it feels like a perfect fit,” the 26-year-old said. “I’m very proud to do it and show everybody who I’m cheering for and where my love is.”
Henderson is the most decorated professional golfer in Canadian history, winning her first major at the age of 18 and capturing her second in 2022. She’s been named Canadian Press’ female athlete of the year three times and currently ranks 22nd in the world.
