Senators GM Staios confirms Tkachuk, Chabot, Stutzle not seriously injured

Ottawa Senators fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

After a chippy game on Tuesday that saw the Senators lose Tim Stutzle, Thomas Chabot and captain Brady Tkachuk to injuries, it seems all three have avoided the worst-case scenario.

Appearing on the Locked On Senators podcast, general manager Steve Staios confirmed that the three players are “all OK.”

Travis Green also told reporters earlier on Wednesday that he doesn’t think the team will lose three players, suggesting he’s not expecting Stutzle, Chabot or Tkachuk to miss time.

Stutzle and Tkachuk exited Tuesday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens following an altercation with defenceman Arber Xhekaj. The Canadiens bruiser laid an open-ice hit on Stutzle, who remained down on the ice before ultimately heading to the locker room for further evaluation.

In retaliation for the hit, Senators captain Tkachuk went straight for Xhekaj to drop the gloves. Tkachuk took Xhekaj to the ice in the bout but wound up also heading back to the Ottawa locker room.

Chabot, the eight-year Senators defenceman, left the game for precautionary reasons, according to the team.

The Senators play their final two pre-season games on Friday and Saturday before beginning their regular season campaign at home on Oct. 10.
