Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion spoke with reporters Wednesday morning following the signing of Tyler Kleven and provided injury updates for Anton Forsberg, Parker Kelly, Cam Talbot and Mathieu Joseph.
After tearing the MCLs in both of his knees, Forsberg will be out for the remainder of the regular season, Dorion said.
The goaltender suffered the injuries in a Feb 11. game against the Edmonton Oilers and needed to be stretchered off the ice. He was placed on injured reserve two days later.
Forsberg has played in 28 games this season, posting an 11-11-2 record with a 3.26 GAA and .902 save percentage.
Kelly, a forward, is also likely to be out for the remainder of the season after suffering a broken kneecap. He had missed the Senators’ last four games with what was being called an undisclosed injury.
The 23-year-old had scored four points in 55 games this season.
Dorion also said that Talbot and Joseph will begin skating next week after suffering lower-body injuries earlier this month.
After Talbot suffered his injury on March 6, head coach D.J. Smith said the goaltender would miss three weeks. He has a 15-14-1 record in 28 games for the Senators this season.
Joseph, meanwhile, left Ottawa’s game on March 12 and was supposed to miss two weeks. The 26-year-old forward has scored 17 points in 47 games in 2022-23.
