Ottawa Senators forwards Tyler Motte and Rourke Chartier have both exited Thursday’s game against the Washington Capitals with upper-body injuries and will not return.
Motte’s injury appeared to take place at the end of the first period when he blocked a shot from Capitals’ Erik Gustafsson. He was able to get up on his own and resume on the penalty kill before John Carlson appeared to catch Motte in the wrist area with his stick in front of the Ottawa net, causing him to stumble to the ice.
Motte left the ice on his own and went straight to the locker room. Carlson received a two minute minor penalty for hooking.
It is unclear when Chartier sustained his injury.
Joining the Senators as a free agent in the off-season, Motte has played 31 games with the club, registering three goals and nine points.
Chartier has no points in five games with the Ottawa Senators, but has registered 19 points in 24 games with the Belleville Senators, Ottawa’s AHL affiliate.
