The Ottawa Senators have signed restricted free agent forward Jan Jenik to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Friday.
The deal is worth $775,000 at the NHL level and $190,000 in the American Hockey League.
Ottawa acquired Jenik’s rights from the Utah Hockey Club on Wednesday in exchange for left winger Egor Sokolov.
“Jan is a versatile and skilled forward capable of playing at both centre and on the wing,” Senators club president of hockey operations and general manager Steve Staios said in a release, “he’s tenacious and demonstrates good offensive upside.”
The 23-year-old Jenik registered one assist in five games with the Arizona Coyotes this past season. He also had 36 points (16 goals and 20 assists) in 55 games with the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL.
Jenik was drafted in the third round, 65th overall, by Arizona in 2018. He registered four goals and two assists in 22 career games over parts of four seasons with the Coyotes.
