Stars sign defenceman Nils Lundkvist to one-year contract

The Dallas Stars have signed Nils Lundkvist to a one-year contract worth $1.25 million.

Lundkvist was not issued a qualifying offer by Dallas after scoring 19 points in 59 games during the regular season. He also had an assist in 12 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“Nils took positive strides in his development last season,” said general manager Jim Nill. “He put in the work each day to improve his game at both ends of the ice, and we’re pleased to have him back as part of our defensive core for the upcoming season.”

Originally selected by the Rangers in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Lundkvist was acquired by the Stars in September 2022 for a conditional first-round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft and a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft.
