After helping the Dallas Stars to the top record in the Western Conference, it appears that Matt Duchene will be staying put.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday that the Stars are working towards a deal with Duchene, taking the unrestricted free agent off the market.
The 33-year-old centre from Haliburton, Ont., joined Dallas last summer on a one-year deal after the Nashville Predators bought out his previous contract.
He recorded 25 goals and 65 points during this regular season and added two goals and six points in 19 playoff games as the Stars reached the Western Conference Final.
Duchene was drafted third overall by the Colorado Avalanche in 2009.
He has played in 1,056 regular-season games with 341 goals and 809 points over 15 seasons with the Avalanche, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Predators and Stars.
