Utah recalls prospect after announcing Durzi, Marino out long-term

Utah Hockey Club will be without two of their defencemen for the long-term, and, as a result, the team called up one of their top prospects.

Utah announced Wednesday that Sean Durzi and John Marino have both undergone significant surgeries.

Durzi, 26, is expected to be out for four to six months after having surgery on his right shoulder, while Marino, 27, had surgery on his lower back and is expected to miss three to four months.

Marino has been unavailable for Utah since training camp, but Durzi played four games to begin the season and recorded two assists.

Utah’s crushing news was somewhat softened when the team announced shortly afterward that 2022 first-round draft pick Maveric Lamoureux had been recalled from the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners.

Lamoureux, 20, is in his first professional season and has already recorded two goals and one assist in four games with the Roadrunners.

He spent the previous four seasons in the QMJHL with the Drummondville Voltigeurs, where he recorded 19 goals and 64 assists for a total of 83 points over 152 games in his junior career.
