The Vancouver Canucks have fired assistant coach Jason King, general manager Patrik Allvin announced on Thursday.
King, 41, had been an assistant coach for the Canucks since 2020, after being with the team’s AHL affiliate for five seasons. King was promoted to join former coach Travis Green’s staff, and continued on when Bruce Boudreau was hired and, this season, Rick Tocchet.
A native of Cornerbrook, N&L, King was drafted by the Canucks in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL Draft. King played for 11 years, including 59 games in the NHL – 55 of those with the Canucks, when – 335 games in the AHL and 140 games in Germany. He retired as a player in 2013. He had 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in his NHL career.
