The Winnipeg Jets made a blockbuster trade on Thursday, moving top prospect Rutger McGroarty to the Pittsburgh Penguins for another top prospect in Brayden Yager.
McGroarty, 20, was the Jets’ first-round pick in 2022 but the Jets had him on the market for most of the summer after a reported disagreement related to McGroarty leaving college and turning pro.
With the trade now complete, Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will speak to the media about the trade, the timing and what Yager will bring to Winnipeg.
