For their first pick of the 2024 NHL Draft, the Jets opted to beef up their defence.
Winnipeg snagged defenceman Alfons Freij 37th overall in the second round of the NHL Draft on Saturday.
The 18-year-old defenceman played with the Vaxjo Lakers Jr. in the Swedish Junior League.
He picked up 14 goals and 19 assists in 40 games played last season.
