An assistant captain for the OHL's London Knights is set to miss more time due to a league punishment.
Forward Landon Sim was suspended five games for using language that violated the OHL's code of conduct, the league announced on Monday.
Sim, 20, was assessed a game misconduct following the first period of a Nov. 6 game against the Soo Greyhounds because of the incident.
The OHL said the ban comes "as a result of a remark intended to provoke an opposing player that was marginalizing on both religious and cultural grounds."
Five games is the minimum suspension available for a violation of the league's code of conduct.
Sim, who was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL draft, has already served two of those games and will be eligible to return on Nov. 22 when the Knights host the Owen Sound Attack.
