Canada's men's volleyball team didn't get off to the start it wanted to at the Olympics.
The Canadians fell 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 25-21) to Slovenia in their Olympic opener on Sunday.
The ninth-ranked Canadians couldn't pull off the upset against the fourth-ranked Slovenians and now will have their work cut out for them in the remainder of the group stage.
Eric Loeppky of Steinback, Man., led the way for Canada with 17 points. Slovenia's Tonček Štern was the game's top scorer with 24 points.
Canada will look to bounce back against France in its second group-stage game on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET. The Canadians will then wrap up the group stage against Serbia on Saturday.
The top two ranked teams in each pool and the two best third-ranked teams will qualify for the quarterfinals.
