Canada's Rachel Homan and John Morris dropped to 3-2 at the Olympic mixed doubles curling competition with a 6-2 loss to Sweden on Saturday.

The loss to Almida de Val and Oskar Eriksson (5-2) snapped Canada's three-game win streak.

“The Swedes were perfect today. We weren’t quite good enough," Morris said. "You can get away with a bad game against some teams, but not the best teams in the world. That Swedish team is really close to the best team in the world, if not the best team right now. We’ve got to regroup."

Sweden had steals of one in the first and second ends and then scored three in the fourth end to grab a commanding 5-1 lead.

The Swedes are one of the favourites in Beijing. Eriksson and de Val won bronze at last year's world championship, while Eriksson teamed up with Anna Hasselborg to capture gold at the 2019 worlds.

Morris won gold with Kaitlyn Lawes when the sport made its Olympic debut in 2018 in PyeongChang.

Canada will face the United States on Saturday at 7:05 a.m. ET.

Italy leads the way at 5-0, followed by Sweden and then Great Britain at 4-1.

Canada is tied for fourth with the U.S.
