Canadian short-track speedskating star Kim Boutin was eliminated after falling in the women’s 1,000-metre heats on Wednesday at the Beijing Olympics.
Boutin was leading and heading to victory when she fell on the final turn.
The 27-year-old native of Sherbrooke, Que., won a bronze medal in the 500 metres on Monday.
Boutin won three medals — one silver and two bronze — at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
Boutin was selected to be Canada’s flag-bearer at the 2018 Closing Ceremony.
Meanwhile, Canadians Courtney Sarault and Alyson Charles advanced out of the 1,000-metre heats on Wednesday.
