Two familiar areas have been picked to host the Winter Olympics in 2030 and 2034.
The International Olympic Committee announced Wednesday that the French Alps will host the 2030 edition, with Salt Lake City, Utah to follow in 2034.
The sites were confirmed in Paris, two days ahead of the opening ceremony for the Summer Olympics.
The French Alps Games are pending government approval following the election of a minority government. The next prime minister must approve the Olympics.
Three events in the French Alps Games are slated to be held in venues used by the Albertville 1992 Olympics.
Salt Lake City hosted in 2002. The bid is expected to lead to a new arena for the NHL's new Utah Hockey Club and the NBA's Utah Jazz.
The 2026 Winter Games are scheduled for Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Those Games will mark the return of NHL players for the first time since 2014.
