LeBron James lifted the United States men's basketball team to victory, scoring 11 points down the stretch to help them beat Germany 91-88 in a final tune-up game prior in London.
The U.S. once again found themselves in need of help to get past their opponent and it was once again James who came through as he scored 20 points in the win. This came after James hit a winning layup to help Team USA avoid an upset against South Sudan.
Joel Embiid scored 15 points while Stephen Curry had 13 and Anthony Edwards finished with 11.
“It was a good test for us. And I’m glad we were able to once again, you know, keep our composure, persevere like we did the other day versus South Sudan,” James told reporters after the game. “It was a good win for us.”
Leading the way for reigning FIBA World Champions' Germany was Franz Wagner who scored 20 points while former Raptor Dennis Schroder had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.
With their victory over Germany, the U.S. finished 5-0 in its pre-Olympic tournament.
The U.S. will open its Olympic schedule on July 28 against Serbia. They are in Group C with Serbia, South Sudan and Puerto Rico.
