After an undefeated group stage at the Olympics, Canada's dream of bringing home a men's basketball medal went up in flames on Tuesday.
The favoured Canadians lost 82-73 to France in front of a frenzied home crowd in Paris, ending their Olympic tournament.
It's not the first time that the French have ended Canada's Olympic hopes, as France also bested the Steve Nash-led Canadians in the quarterfinals of the 2000 Olympics.
Canada's Shai-Gilgeous Alexander once again did everything he could to will the Great White North to victory, scoring a game-high 27 points. But in the end, it was not enough and Canada will head home disappointed, especially after a promising group stage.
After the loss, Canadian basketball fans took to social media with their thoughts on the earlier-than-expected exit for Canada.
