'Thrilling game': Fans react as U.S. survive France in women's basketball final

On Sunday, the U.S. won a historic women’s basketball gold, narrowly beating France 67-66 in a tight, tense game that had fans on the edge of their seats.

As the final whistle blew, Cheryl Reeve's players threw their arms to the sky, cheering and hugging as they extended their unbeaten run at the Olympics to 61. The Americans haven't lost at the Summer Games since 1992 in Barcelona.

Sunday's win also earned the U.S. an eight consecutive gold medal.

A'ja Wilson played a vital role in the U.S.' win with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Diana Taurasi earned her sixth straight gold, making her the most decorated basketball player in Olympic history.

While the States celebrate the win, it's double heartbreak for France as its men’s team lost to the U.S. 98-87 in Saturday’s gold medal game.
