Italy's Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner are Olympic mixed doubles curling champions after a perfect performance in Beijing.

The Italians capped an 11-0 tournament with an 8-5 win over Norway's Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten in the final on Tuesday.

It marked Italy's first curling medal in Olympic competition.

Constantini and Mosaner recorded a steal of three in the fourth end to take a commanding 6-2 lead on the married couple from Norway.

Italy exacted revenge on Norway after losing to the reigning Olympic bronze medallists in a playoff game at the world championship last year in Scotland. Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten went on to win silver at the worlds.

Earlier Tuesday, Sweden's Almida de Val and Oscar Eriksson beat Great Britain's Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat 9-3 in the bronze-medal game.

Beijing marked the second time mixed doubles was held at the Olympics.

Canada's Kaitlyn Lawes and John Morris won gold in 2018 in Pyeongchang.

Morris teamed up with Rachel Homan this year and fell just short of reaching the semifinals when the latter's rock went millimetres too far in an extra-end loss to Italy in the round-robin finale.
